Additional History on the Home:
Elmwood was built in 1868 by the first surgeon at Vanderbilt Hospital by Dr. BB Barr. Three generations of the Barr family occupied the property. The second owner for 30 years was the Reese family that raised mules for the Grand Canyon. The third family to own Elmwood was Travis and Lottie McCormick. The McCormick’s totally renovated Elmwood to its original state.
After renovation, the home was featured on HGTV. Elmwood was noted as the best Italianate structure in the state of Tennessee. The McCormick’s hosted numerous charity events, weddings featuring members of the Nashville symphony, Celebrity weddings, class reunions, teas, showers, and unlimited family events.
